Members of the South Bethany Historical Society (SBHS) have been working for more than a year compiling information, interviewing longtime residents, collecting photos and raising funds to publish history of the town titled “The Best Little Beach in Delaware,” after the town’s longtime slogan.
It has sent the materials to a designer and printer, and the book is expected to be published and available to the public by May 20. The 160-page, full-color book has more than 200 photographs of the “old” South Bethany, as well as text outlining significant events in the town’s history, such as the building of the canals, the 1962 storm, Superstorm Sandy and more.
Copies will be available at $25 each at McCabe’s Gourmet Market and Made by Hand in South Bethany and Jaynes Reliable in Dagsboro, as well as at public informational meetings this summer. More information about where the book may be purchased will be offered soon.
