South Coastal Library’s book sale another hit
Neither snow nor sleet nor rain can stop our community from holding a successful book sale. Even though the Washington/Baltimore area received some 10 inches of snow on President’s Day weekend and many people couldn’t make it to the beach, the Friends of the South Coastal Library (FOSCL) had a very successful Winter Book Sale.
Our heartfelt thanks to over 50 outstanding volunteers who contributed their time and expertise to organizing and running the sale, to our excellent library staff who sorted the book donations and provided encouragement, and to our wonderful community members who attended and supported it.
We also appreciate the assistance of the local newspapers, businesses and community organizations for helping to publicize the event. More than $2,700 was raised to enhance the library’s programs and services.
As we’ve heard actors say when they accept an Academy Award, there are too many people to name individually due to time and space restraints, although we wish we could, but you know (and we know) who you are. You have our sincerest gratitude, because the book sale could not have occurred without you.
We are now preparing for the Summer Book Sale, scheduled for Aug. 14, 15 and 16 at the South Coastal Library. Please bring your donations of books, CDs and DVDs to the main desk in the library, which will enable us to have another great sale.
With our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to everyone who participated.

MVFC offers thanks for support with event
On Wednesday, Feb. 12, Fox’s Pizza conducted a fundraiser, under the direction of manager Lisa Welling, to benefit the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. Everyone in attendance had an enjoyable time socializing and eating delicious food.
The members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company would like to express their sincere gratitude to Lisa and the Fox’s Pizza employees for sponsoring this fundraiser, as well as the following businesses who donated items for the silent auction that evening: Atlantic Auto Repair, Banks Wines & Spirits, Bethany Auto Parts, Michele Steffens, Miller’s Creek, Parts Plus, Patti’s Hallmark, Phillips restaurant and Sea Crest.
Since the Millville Volunteer Fire Company is a volunteer organization, it is highly dependent on donations to help meet its needs for necessary manpower, equipment, repairs and the daily operation of the company. Once again, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company expresses its sincere thanks to Lisa Welling, the employees of Fox’s Pizza, and all of the other businesses and individuals who supported this event.
