Marnie Oursler, founder and president of Marnie Homes, was recently named a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category in the 10th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, employees and the companies they run, worldwide.
“It is an incredible honor to be recognized among such accomplished business leaders,” Oursler said. “As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field, I have strived to set myself apart successfully and ensure that each Marnie home is tailored to the family I’m working with.”
Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Friday, Nov. 8. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries are expected to attend.
Awards being presented at the ceremony include Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Women Helping Women and Communications Campaign of the Year. Oursler is a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category.
In 2012, after building the “All American House” using more than 90 percent domestic building materials, Oursler teamed up with building materials supplier 84 Lumber to create the “We Build American” campaign. As a national spokesperson, she aims to help builders throughout the country build upon her idea of increasing domestic jobs by using more American-made products.
Finalists for the Stevie Awards were chosen by more than 140 business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. More than 90 members of the five final judging committees will determine the Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award placements from among the finalists during final judging.
“For 10 years, we have been recognizing the achievements of women in business, and this year’s nominations were the most impressive class the judges have ever reviewed,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards.
