The Delaware State Police this week were continuing their investigation into a crash that killed a Millsboro man on Saturday night.
According to the DSP, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on April 6 as Kenneth O. Grinnell was driving a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on South DuPont Boulevard (Route 113) just north of McColleys Chapel Road. For unknown reasons, police said, the vehicle left the west side of the roadway.
They said the driver — 63-year-old Kenneth O. Grinnell of Millsboro — attempted to correct the issue and the vehicle re-entered the roadway and then back to the right before traveling off the west side of the roadway, where it struck a tree. The impact, they said, caused the vehicle to rotate in a clockwise manner and continue southbound, where it struck a ditch and became airborne before coming to a stop.
Grinnell, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. He was removed from the scene by EMS and initially transported to Milford Memorial Hospital before being flown to Christiana Medical Center, where he died on April 8 as a result of his injuries.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit this week was continuing their investigation into the incident.
