BREAKING NEWS: Millsboro residents killed in single-car crash near Lewes

The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit on Friday, Dec. 23, was investigating a single-vehicle crash in which two Millsboro residents were killed early that morning.

Police said that, about 12:50 a.m., as Dakota R. Sabia, 20, of Millsboro was driving her 2009 Hyundai westbound on Route 24 east of Robinsonville Road, for an unknown reason, Sabia lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway, causing it to spin and cross the eastbound lane of the road before exiting the highway and striking a tree with its front passenger-side door.

Nicholas T. Ventresca, 22, of Millsboro, who was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the DSP. Sabia was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Beebe Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about 5:20 a.m.
Both occupants of the vehicle were properly restrained at the time of the crash, police noted, adding that it was unknown if alcohol was a factor. Route 24 was closed for approximately 3.5 hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
The crash remained under investigation by the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit this weekend.
