Delaware’s Department of Transportation has announced that beginning this evening, Wednesday, Nov. 2, there will be a shift in traffic patterns on Route 1 just north of the Indian River Inlet Bridge. The shift will be implemented to ensure continued road safety due to dune erosion adjacent to the northbound lanes, they said.
Also, beginning this evening, Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m., Route 1 will be closed in both directions approaching the bridge. The closure will continue until noon on Thursday, Nov. 3. Once reopened, a single lane, both northbound and southbound, will travel across the existing bridge.
Motorists are also being reminded that the current speed limit of 35mph throughout the roadway approach and bridge work zones will remain in effect to protect the safety of workers and the traveling public.
For additional information about the closure, listen to 1380 AM on the radio or visit Web site www.irib.deldot.gov.
