Delaware State Police Troop 4 Property Unit detectives this week charged a Frankford man and woman in connection with five residential burglaries that took place Wednesday evening, Oct. 19, in Plantation Park, west of Ocean View.
The DSP charged Kristie L. Kirkpatrick, 41, and Jeffrey J. Andrew, 22, both of the Frankford area, with a total of 25 charges, after an unrelated investigation by the Delaware State Police Sussex County Governor’s Task Force Andrew’s residence on Alabama Drive. Once inside the residence, police said, they located Andrew and Kirkpatrick, and also observed property that was consistent with the rash of recent burglaries.
Troop 4 Property Unit detectives joined the investigation and were able to connect Kirkpatrick and Andrew to the burglaries that had taken place in Plantation Park on the prior Wednesday evening. According to police, the duo would forcibly enter the residences through locked doors and windows. Once inside, they said, they would remove flat-screen televisions, videogame systems and other property.
Both Kirkpatrick and Andrew were charged with crimes including Burglary Second Degree, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglar Tools and Conspiracy. Kirkpatrick was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution for lack of $33,000 secured bond. Andrew was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution for lack of $16,000 secured bond.
Detectives said they recovered stolen property from the five Plantation Park burglaries and were in the process of conducting an inventory to identify ownership of the items. They said they would contact the victims when that process is complete.
