Mabel L. Hudson, 84

Mabel L. Hudson, 84, of Dagsboro, Del., went to her final resting place on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in the Coastal Hospice at the Lake, Salisbury, Md., after surviving breast cancer and fighting a hard battle with diabetes.

Hudson retired from the Delaware Food Service, where she worked for the Indian River School District at Lord Baltimore Elementary School. She was also the baker of the famous “Orange Bow Knots” for Patti-Lyn Restaurant in Bethany Beach, Del., for many years; and was a dessert maker for Topside Restaurant in Ocean View, Del. She also worked many summers as a cook at Camp Barnes, Bayard, Del. She was a dedicated worker, wife, mother and grandmother.

Hudson was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Sadie (Justice) Steele; her husband, Paul W. Hudson; her daughter, Arlene V. Hudson; brothers, Phillip Steele Jr. and Kendall J. Steele; sister, Katie Calhoun; nephew, Joseph Calhoun Sr.; step-son, William E. Hudson; and son-in-law, Thomas B. Price Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Price of Pittsville, Md. and Phyllis Bailey of Fruitland, Md.; a step-daughter, Barbara Hudson of Bishopville, Md.; eight grandchildren, Tami Johnson of Salisbury, Md., Ron Lewis of Willards, Md., Tiffany Bloodsworth of Pittsville, Md., Tara Wolske and her husband, Matt, of Pittsville, David Mitchell and his wife, Michelle, of Dagsboro, Jerry Mitchell of Laurel, Del., Dawn Mitchell of Fairfax, Va. and John McBroom of Georgetown, Del.; and eleven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, with burial in St. George’s Cemetery, Clarksville, Del.
