Garnetta H. “Mee Maw” Phillips, 86, of near Georgetown, Del., passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2009. She was a member of the Joshua House in Gumboro, Del., and the East Sussex Moose Lodge #2542, where she achieved many offices working up through the chairs. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Mee Maw” to many. She enjoyed reading poems, crossword puzzles, crocheting, game shows and watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Irma West; her husband, Earl Woodrow Phillips; and a son, Paul Stephen Phillips. She is survived by her children, E. Mark Phillips, Thomas A. Phillips and his wife, Christine, Deborah Long and her husband, Charles, Mary E. Holston and her husband, James, Anna R. Miller and her husband, Kenneth, all of Georgetown; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
