The season is now upon us, and there are few better ways to enjoy it than the weekend ahead.
The Third Annual Bethany Beach Seaside Craft Show will take control of Bethany’s boardwalk on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Artisans will be coming from as far away as Florida and Vermont to show and sell their wares, and local artists will be on hand to showcase their individual talents.
This is a juried, fine-craft show, and is sponsored by the Town of Bethany Beach Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee, so expect the crafts and artwork to be top-notch. Add in a pleasing weather forecast, and it’s an easy decision to make.
Go to the show.
The other showcase for this weekend takes place on Sunday, in the parking lot of the Millville Town Center. The NVHomes and Ryan Homes 8th Annual Taste of Coastal Delaware event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. and great food is on the menu.
Many of our terrific local restaurants annually put their best foot forward and offer a full slate of edibles for Taste-goers to enjoy. There will be seafood, beef, desserts, wine and more on tap, and the selection and quality of food never disappoints.
On Friday night, if you’re looking to get involved in the local flavor early this weekend, the CHEER Coastal Leisure Center in Ocean View is holding a picnic from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be food, a 50/50 raffle and entertainment. The picnic is free to members of the CHEER Center, and only $8 for non-members.
Also on Saturday is the annual Strawberry Festival at Millville United Methodist Church, from 1 to 4 p.m. While not as hyped or celebrated as the aforementioned events, the strawberry is an annual favorite amongst locals, and is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with the family if you enjoy great fresh strawberries.
To tie in with the artistic flair of the craft show on Saturday, Beach Cottage in Ocean View is holding an Artisans Tent Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be various genres of art showcased, and the event is free to attend.
So many choices, and one really can’t go wrong. A little planning can even get you to all of the events this weekend if you are so inclined.
Yes, the summer season is indeed upon us now. And, with that, comes some exciting and interesting things to do. And there is no better weekend all summer than the one ahead.
