Elfriede “Effie” Rogers, 67, of Dagsboro, passed away at home on Thursday, May 24, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Germany, married, and traveled for 20 years as an Army wife, with her husband, before settling in Delaware. She worked for Kim Sewing Manufacturing, Intervet Inc. and Roses Department Store before retiring.
Rogers was preceded in death by her parents, Johann and Emilie Schmolka; and her husband, Merrill A. Rogers Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Brittingham and husband Sam of Georgetown, Linda Hicke and husband Joseph of Germany; four grandchildren, Dustin and Samantha Brittingham, John Brown and Petra Martin; great-grandchild, Nina Martin; and her brother, Herbert Schmolka of Germany.
A funeral service was scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2007, with interment in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown DE 19947.
