The Sussex County Association of Realtors (SCAOR) named Sandy Greene, Associate Broker at ResortQuest in Bethany Beach, their Realtor of the Year for 2013 at an event on June 7. Fellow Realtor Bill Lucks of Long and Foster in Rehoboth Beach nominated Greene for the award.
When asked why he thought Greene was the most fitting choice for the award, Lucks said, “I have known Sandy Greene for over 20 years, and she really is the Realtor’s Realtor — very knowledgeable about everything real estate. She is the one person that everyone looks to when they have a real estate question.”
All candidates for the award must be nominated. Once nominated, they must complete a résumé, which consists of a series of questions in various categories. Each category adds up to a specific number of points, and the applicant with the greatest amount of points receives the honor. Greene had been nominated for the award in the past, but this is her first time winning the title.
“It is an honor, because there are a lot of volunteers in our association that go for the long haul, to make sure that our association operates the way it should for the benefit of our membership,” Greene said of the award.
Realty has always been an interest for Greene. She even stated in her high school yearbook that she wanted to be a Realtor when she grew up. Although she had a few different jobs along the way, Greene obtained her real estate license in 1984 and has been working in the field ever since.
There are three awards given annually by SCAOR, which include the Realtor of the Year award, the Good Neighbor award and the Rookie of the Year.
Greene said she is “honored to have the support and trust of my fellow Realtors.”
