JMC PTO to host My School Color Run

The John M. Clayton Elementary School PTO will host their first-ever My School Color Run 5K Trail Run & Kids Fun Run on Saturday, May 5, at the Indian River High School cross-country trail on Armory Road in Dagsboro from 8 to 11 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine.

The event will feature a trail run full of color splash and powder zones where participants will be doused in bright colors, and a Kid Fun run for children 5 or younger. One of the goals of the run, besides raising money for the school, is to promote healthy living. The event is open to anyone, no matter their fitness level or capability, and is open to the entire community.

Prior to the event, there will be music to get the festivities started, a photo booth to capture memories pre- and post-run, post-race snacks and more. Those participating should be sure to wear light-colored clothes and shoes that they don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Fun and creative costumes are being encouraged and welcomed.

The event will start at 8 a.m. with registration and check-in followed by the Kid Fun Run at 9 a.m. and the 5K Trail Run to follow with a 9:30 a.m. kick-off.

“We are so thrilled with how the community has come together to help us get this run off the ground,” stated JMC teacher Caroline Hevner. “The school is excited to get the entire community involved and hope that it becomes something that everyone looks forward to each year.”

“We were trying to come up with an idea to help promote healthy living, raise money for the school and ensure the kids had fun,” said Hevner. “There aren’t many races out there that focus solely on kids, so we created this event for them.”
