Letter: Elling suggests pledge to the constitution

Editor:

“I pledge an oath of allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Our Constitutional freedoms of voting, religion, speech, press, peaceful assembly and the right to petition the government are the highest protected rights for all citizens.

It is well past time that we as a nation pledge ourselves no longer to a flag, but to the heart and soul of our nation, the Constitution of the United States of America.
