Wayne Paul Toomey, 70, of Laurel, Del., passed away in the care of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del., on July 11, 2018. He was born in Lewes, Del., on March 18, 1948, to the late Oliver Toomey and Esther Short Toomey.
Toomey was a retired poultry worker. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He also loved hunting deer and rabbits, and hunting for just about anything. He enjoyed going for rides in the car. Most of all, he liked to spend time with his family. Toomey also loved his dog, Roscoe, very much and enjoyed talking to him while he perched on his knee.
Toomey is survived by his two children, Timothy Toomey of Delmar, Del., and Melody A. Pettyjohn and her husband, John, of Laurel, Del.; two sisters, Erma Clark and her husband, Levin, and Bonnie Rogers and her husband, Asher, all of Selbyville, Del.; two brothers, Charles Toomey of Delmar, Del., and Harvey “Joe-Pop” Toomey, of Laurel, Del.; his grandchildren, Josh Pettyjohn and his wife, Shauna, Jason Pettyjohn and his wife, Danielle, and Hunter Toomey; and his great-grandchildren, Gannon Pettyjohn, Ja’Von Snead and Jorden Snead.
A funeral service and celebration of Toomey’s life were scheduled for July 16, 2018, at Watson Funeral Home, with interment at Carey’s Cemetery, both in Millsboro, Del.
