James A. “Jim” Powell, 72, of Millsboro, Del., and formerly of Newark, Del., passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. He was born in Wilmington, Del., to the late John E. Powell and Caroline DiGiacomo Powell-Arcaro.
Powell had retired from Boeing, where he had worked as a fabricator. He enjoyed fishing, had his captain’s license and ran his own boat charters. He enjoyed spending time with his closest family and friends — especially his daughter and grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Powell was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane and Margaret, as well as his stepfather, Anthony Arcaro. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Powell of Millsboro, Del.; a daughter, Jennifer Catts of Newark; his brothers, Vince DiGiacomo and his wife, Barbara, of Wilmington, and Robert Decker of Lewes, Del.; two grandchildren whom he adored, Jacob and Aubrey Catts; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Powell’s life will be held Sunday July 29, 2018, from noon to 4 p.m. at Lums Pond State Park (picnic area No. 4). Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com
