Sandra Ann Long, 74, of Laurel, Del., passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, after a 43-year battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born on Oct. 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late George E. II, and Mildred Mae Fisher Long, and later moved to Dagsboro, Del.
Long was a retired hairdresser, working many years at the Stockley Center. She raised two children. She was a volunteer coordinator for several years at the Christian Storehouse. She loved to make everyone happy, and her hobbies included birdwatching, sharing stories and watching TV. Her favorite re-runs were “Little House on the Prairie” and “The Waltons.” She somehow could decode her TV remotes, baffling her family. She cherished every moment she could be with family. Long loved classic cars with loud exhaust pipes. She also loved all animals, especially her beloved dog, Oliver, and cat, Precious.
In addition to her parents, Long was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Amy Long. She is survived by two children, Charles Wilkerson and his wife, Tracey, and Amy Littleton, all of Laurel, Del.; a brother, George E. “Sonny” Long III and his wife, Debbie; six grandchildren, Michelle Elizabeth Mousa and her husband, Sam, Charley Marie Malone and her husband, George, Patrick Lee Littleton, Charles Lee “C.J.” Wilkerson III, Amanda Brooke Whaley and Timothy Scott Causey; two great-grandchildren, Anisa Mousa and Ibrahim Mousa; many special friends, including Karen, Sara Beth, Patty and Henry, Paula, Janet, Connie, Stella and Marion; and many other friends and extended family.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del. Friends may call one hour prior for visitation with the family. Interment will follow at Red Men’s Cemetery in Selbyville, Del.
