Helen Alberta Harris, 70, of Dagsboro Del., departed this life on Monday, July 16, 2018, at Medstar Hospital in Washington, D.C. She was born to the late Hort Valentina Millberry and Bessie Elizabeth Proctor on July 2, 1948, in Fredrick, Md.
Harris was educated in the Fredrick (Md.) School District. She was united in marriage to the late Richard Harris in 1964. From that union, they had five children. She was employed for many years at the Flamingo Hotel in Ocean City, Md., until her health began to fail. Harris then took care of all of her grandbabies. They were the love of her life. She also loved music and loved to dance.
She leaves to cherish loving memories her devoted and loving companion, Clarence Poulson; a brother, Ricky Millberry, and his wife, Cindy, of West Virginia; two daughters, Darlene Bailey and her husband, Larry, and Gloria Harris and her husband, Harvey, of Millsboro, Del.; three sons, Richard Harris and his wife, Linda, of Berlin, Md., Bryan Harris, and Richard R. Harris and his wife, Evelyn, of Fredrick; three granddaughters, Cierra Parker, Emily Sodergren and Stacy Baker; 12 grandsons, Jermaine Harris and his wife, Ruslana, Jeremy Baker, Larry Bailey Jr. and his wife, Killita, Ronald Harris, Donshay M. Bailey, Brandon Hall, Richard R. Harris, Bradley Harris, Nathaniel Conquest, Jordan Harris, Rayshawn Harris and Tyrese Harris; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, 11325 N. Worcester Highway, Bishopville, Md., with visitation at noon. The Most Rev. Roland E. Mifflin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Curtis United Methodist Cemetery, 11827 Campbelltown Road, Bishopville, Md.
