Anna Mae Givens, 80


Anna Mae Givens, 80, of Greenwood, Del., passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved-ones, on July 13, 2018, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Vero Beach, Fla. She was born in Lewes, Del., on Dec. 8, 1937, to the late Jacob M. Moore and Ida M. Hudson of Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Givens had many titles over her years, working at her father’s restaurant, the Robert Lee, in Rehoboth Beach; waitressing at Tower Shores in Bethany Beach; working for NCR in Millsboro; and then poultry farming for Cargill in Ocean View.

She later became a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at the Millsboro nursing home; co-owner of the Crystal Package Store in Redden; and finally an associate at Walmart in Milford. But, mostly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

Givens loved to be outdoors, enjoying time fishing, crabbing, clamming and gardening. She was also a faithful member for more than 40 years of the Church of God in Dagsboro, where she praised and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands, Frank Rickards, Ward Rickards Jr. and Donald Givens; her daughter, Lynn Milner; and two half-sisters, Shelly Moore and Babby Moore. She is survived by her brother, Walter Moore of Ocean View; a sister, Bebe Moore of Lewes, Del.; a son, James Rickards of Frankford, Del.; a stepson, Ward Rickards III and his wife, Pam, of Laurel, Del.; a daughter, Mary Jo Awtrey and her husband, Chris, of Vero Beach, Fla.; her grandchildren, Heather Parsons, Alexandra Mazer, Jamie Rickards, Jacob Rickards, Jessica Murdick, Cody Gallien and Patrick Spence; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Briar, Lilly and Rose; and two nephews, Chip Moore and Tom Moore.

A memorial service will be held on Aug. 4, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, Del.
