The inaugural National Night Out event in Dagsboro on Aug. 7 was an outstanding display of how a small town can come together for the benefit of the community. It not only achieved the main goal of highlighting what each of the private and public sectors bring to their residents, it went far beyond that.
A well-deserved “Thank you” goes out to all who were involved, from the Dagsboro Business Association for initially promoting the idea, to Chief of Police Floyd Toomey and to the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company, where it was held.
And to the organizer, Audrey Miller, for making it all come together — to coordinate not only the participants from our town but the various State and local agencies from the surrounding communities couldn’t have been easy. You all made the end result look as though it is something Dagsboro’s been doing for years. Mission accomplished.
I support this becoming an annual event to make Dagsboro a safe and welcoming place to live.
