Jean Elizabeth (Berner) Mitchell, 60

Jean Elizabeth (Berner) Mitchell, 60, of Millsboro, Del., passed away, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. She was born in Wilmington, Del., to the late Robert Joseph Berner Sr. and Mary Joyce Weikel Berner.

Mitchell was a caretaker for the Wilmington Mounted Police horses before moving to Millsboro, where she had lived for approximately 37 years. She was the owner/operator of Feather Dusters Inc., and a member of Post 24 American Legion in Dagsboro, Del.

She was a feisty woman who loved spending time with her family, going to the beach, watching her grandchildren play sports, horses, traveling (especially Caribbean cruises), taking family trips to Chincoteague, Va., and the Washington Redskins. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mitchell was also preceded in death by her husband, Shane Mitchell, in 2010. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Sara Tibbett (and Shannon Wright) and Pebbles Hall, all of Millsboro, Del.; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Anderson and her husband, Brent, of Downingtown, Pa.; a brother, Robert Berner and his wife, Melissa, of Georgetown, Del.; five sisters, Helen Whitley and her husband, Ralph, of Millsboro, Brenda Presley and her husband, Rick, of New Castle, Del., Diane Coverdale and her husband, Jim, of Ellendale, Del., Barbara Wacome and her husband, Bob, of Westford, Mass., and Teresa Berner of Millsboro; six grandchildren, Kaiya “Puddin” Hall, Gabriel Shane Brown, Kade “Fred” Hall, Ariyanna Townsend, Mitch Anderson and Camryn Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

A memorial service was to be held Aug. 20, 2018, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Del. Burial was to be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial donations to Tunnell Cancer Center; 18947 John J. Williams Hwy #101; Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, or to Post 24 American Legion; P.O.
