David R. Cornish Sr., 78, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was born in Glenolden, Pa., to the late Robert Cornish and Florence Walls Cornish.
Cornish worked as a night clerk for 11 years at the Heritage Inn in Rehoboth Beach, Del., before his illness. In his earlier years, he and his wife owned and operated several businesses in the area, Edy’s Ice Cream & Fudgery in Lewes, Del., Autumn Bay Café in Seaford, Del., and Angie’s Ice Cream at the Laurel Flea Market. They also catered for the Adult Education Division in the Sussex Technical School District.
He will be remembered for his warped sense of humor, his hard work ethic and his devotion to his family — always putting them first.
Cornish is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years Angeline M. Cornish of Millsboro, Del.; three children, David R. Cornish Jr. and his wife, Emmy, of Delmar, Del., Michelle Stillman and her husband, John Mayfield, of Ridley, Pa., and John Stillman and his wife, Shannon, of Milford, Del.; 10 grandchildren, Addisson, Collins, Emersyn, Kimberly, Sabrina, Natasha, Zefryn, Cyrus, Jacob and Joshua; a great-grandson, Benjamin; his special friends, Trudy and Spencer; his adored canine friends, Roxie and Pumpkin; and a feline friend, Hercules.
A memorial service was to be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Del., where friends could call from 5 to 6 p.m. for visitation. Burial was to be private.
