The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) are undertaking a project to
relocate Park Avenue to improve traffic operations and safety of the existing US 9 Truck Bypass around Georgetown. The Park Avenue
Relocation Environmental Assessment (EA) was released to the public by the FHWA, Delaware Division on June 7, 2018. The public comment period on the EA began on June 18, 2018 and ended on July 17, 2018. A public hearing was not requested. The public had the opportunity to provide written comments throughout the comment period.
DelDOT and the FHWA, in accordance with the Federal requirements of 23 CFR 771.121, are hereby notifying the public of the issuance of the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the project. The FONSI has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act to document and support FHWA’s determination that the Selected Alternative would not have a significant effect on the human and natural environment.
The FONSI documentation may be viewed via the project’s website https://www.deldot.gov/information/projects/park_avenue_relocation. A copy of the documentation may be obtained by calling DELDOT Community Relations at 302-760-2080.
