Ricky A. Hitchens, 59, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, surrounded by family. He was a native of Sussex County and a graduate of Indian River High School. He served his family, country and the Navy. He battled M.S. courageously, laughed enthusiastically and loved the Green Bay Packers.
Hitchens was preceded in death by his father, Norman Hitchens; his mother, Myrtle Hitchens, and a brother, Charlie Hitchens. His is survived by his wife of 32 years, Laura Hitchens; twin boys, Tom Hitchens and Chris Hitchens, both of Dagsboro; a stepson, Emmett Gunter IV of Florida; a brother, Ralph Hitchens, and his wife, Ellen; and a sister, Brenda Taylor.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Millville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bradley Schutt will speak before a small luncheon at noon. Memorial donations are welcomed, to the MS Society or SPCA.
