Peter P. Kopyscianski, 74, died peacefully at Milford, Del., on Oct., 3 2018, after a 10-year battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 24, 1943, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Paul Kopyscianski and Clara Kopyscianski.
Kopyscianski graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1961. He attended SUNY Maritime College, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering. In 1968, he married Kathleen J. McConeghy, and together they raised their children, Celeste and Peter. He dedicated his career to nuclear and mechanical engineering for 49 years.
He served as a U.S. Navy Reservist for 10 years, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. During that time, he also attended the University of Connecticut, where he received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.
Kopyscianski is survived by his wife, Kathleen J. Kopyscianski; his two children, Celeste Kopyscianski and Peter J. Kopyscianski; and three grandchildren, Lennon, Sawyer and Liam Kopyscianski.
A viewing was to be held Oct. 10, 2018, at Melson Funeral Services, Millsboro, Del., with funeral services held privately on Oct. 11, 2018, at Mary Mother of Peace Church, also in Millsboro.
