Letter — Organizers thank many for Pumpkin Festival
On behalf of the Town of Millville, I’d like to thank all those who assisted in making the Millville Great Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, Sept. 29, such a success. The Town was totally overjoyed by the massive crowd, seeing so many attendants and vendors with huge smiles on their faces! It was our goal to have a fun-filled day for people of all ages and, thanks to the beautiful weather (finally!), we feel we did just that!
First and foremost, I want to give a big thanks to the Town staff: Matt Amerling, Robin Caporaletti (our “Great Pumpkin”), Eric Evans, Anna Scarola and Lisa Wynn; and Council, Ronald Belinko, Treasurer Susan Brewer, Mayor Robert Gordon, Deputy Mayor Steve Maneri (who was with us in spirit) and Secretary Peter Michel — for their help with putting on this event. Without them, there would be no festival.
A very special thanks also goes to Gunnery Sgt. Lester “Gunny” James and the 28 cadets from the Indian River High School JROTC who were a tremendous help in the setting up, running the carnival games and tearing down of the event!
Words really can’t describe how grateful the Town of Millville is for the assistance of our Millville Volunteer Group and other volunteers. The following individuals worked during the event: Brenda Fegelein, Linda Kent, Maggie King, Russell Littleton, Trudi Lombardi, John Melson, Kathy Morrison, Patty Moulder, Maureen Walker and honorary volunteer Desiree McIntyre; also, thanks to residents Paul DuCott and Marshall Gevinson, who assisted staff in setting up the festival. We couldn’t have done it without all of them!
Thanks to our food vendors: Blue Scoop Ice Cream, Doric Lodge #30 and Hocker’s BBQ, as well as to all of the local vendors and their staff who worked the festival, as well as John Donato for his community mural painting. Thanks to The Funsters for providing a lot of great music and inspiring some good dance moves, both on- and off-stage!
Also, thanks to Beazer Homes; Beebe Healthcare and David Szumski; Christopher Companies; George, Miles & Buhr (GMB); Millville Town Center LLC; Morris Richie Associates; and Schiff Farms for their sponsorship donations toward rides, pumpkin decorating and the band.
A big thanks goes to the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and EMS for going above and beyond to make sure safety was covered for attendants, as well as bringing out their antique vehicles!
A special thanks to the Millville United Methodist Church and Lord’s Landscaping for their continued support and helping with providing additional parking for the festival. Thanks also go to Bill Fox of The Black Pearl Pirate Party Bus, Clean Delaware, Coastal Rentals & Hydraulics, Fantasy World Entertainment & Party Rentals, Republic Services and TechGas of Georgetown.
All of their assistance and cooperation helped in making this major community event run smoothly, and enhanced the experience of many, many visitors.
Finally, I’m so appreciative of all of you who took the time to join us for our annual festival. We at the Town were more than happy to finally host this joyful event after years of rainy weather kept canceling it! We appreciate your ongoing support and hope you enjoyed the Millville Great Pumpkin Festival! We look forward to seeing you all next year!
