It was a light week of action for the Selbyville Middle School sports teams, with only three dates of competition.
The girls’ volleyball team swept their way to another win, to run their record to 5-0 on the season. Head coach Sally Craig’s squad took down visiting Chipman, 2-0, with scores of 25-13 and 25-9.
Camryn Ehlers had 19 service points in the match that included 15 aces and five kills.
The “B” team also won their match by the score of 25-14. Jade Wilkins had 15 service points in that one.
Selbyville was set to play Mariner Middle on Wednesday, Oct. 17, after Coastal Point press time. Results of that match can be found on the Coastal Point sports Facebook page.
Sussex Academy 3, Selbyville 1: The Indians suffered their first loss of the season in a 3-1 setback to the Seahawks on Monday, Oct. 15. No further details were available.
The “B” team posted a 1-0 win in their game.
Selbyville 0, Sussex Academy 0: This one featured a whole lot of defense, as both teams posted shutouts in a scoreless tie on Monday, Oct. 15.
It was a similar scoreless result for the “B” teams as well.
SVFC golf tourney rescheduled
Due to inclement weather, the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company golf tournament that was to be held Oct. 12 has been rescheduled for Oct. 26, still at Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club near Dagsboro.
The tournament has a scrambles format. Registration cost $360 per foursome, and with the change in date, there was room for more teams as of early this week.
