Erik Kampmann, owner of EMK Designs Residential Design Studio, was recently honored at the USA Property Awards, now in its 25th year, in association with Salice, at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel for his project, Ovcharenko Custom Home — a home he designed in South Bethany, to pay homage to the World War II watchtowers that dot the coastline.
Kampmann competed against property professionals across the U.S. and the Americas, judged by an independent panel of 80 industry experts and chaired by Lord Caithness, Lord Best, the Earl of Liverpool and Lord Thurso — members of the House of Lords in the U.K. Parliament.
Kampmann won the Architecture Single Residence category and, to top it off, he was also presented with the 5-Star Best Architecture Single Residence award by the judging panel.
Kampmann said he is beyond thrilled to not only have been chosen to compete for the initial award — and win — but also garner the 5-Star award.
“I cannot tell you how awesome it feels to see a dream become a reality, creating a singular home for amazing clients, and to be recognized, internationally, for it,” he said. “I keep looking at my awards and thinking, hey, those are mine!”
While Kampmann is not new to being an award winner, but as those were when he was working for other firms, he said these, now, “are his and his alone — well, he did say he’s sharing them with his clients.”
