Gerald “Jerry” E. Frey, 83, of Millsboro, Del., passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del.
Frey was born in Ocean View, Del., on Dec. 4, 1934, son of the late Russell and Helen M. (Powell) Frey. He was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School in Ocean View and then proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He owned and operated Frey’s Car Care with his brother, Thomas, from 1962 until 1986. After selling the business, he then worked as a salesman for Sussex Lumber for the last 31 years. Frey enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Frey, in 1985. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Jeannette M. (Quillen) Frey; a daughter, Lisa Rogers and her husband, Rick, of Millsboro; a son, Jeffrey Frey and his wife, Brenda, of Millsboro; four grandchildren, Ryan Frey of Millsboro, Richard Allan Rogers and his wife, Jamey, of Millsboro, Gerald J. Frey of Millsboro and Chelsie Rathfon and her husband, Trevor, of Georgetown, Del.; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas Frey and his wife, Pat, of Dagsboro, Del., and Richard Frey of New Jersey.
A visitation was held Oct. 23, 2018, at Melson Funeral Services, Frankford, Del., with interment held privately at Mariner’s Bethel Cemetery, Ocean View, Del.
