Harvey Edward “Bud” Pryor, 81, of Ocean View Del., formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at his home.
Pryor started his career in law enforcement in 1958, with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, and was then appointed in 1962 to the White House Police. He retired in 1983 as chief of the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division. After his retirement, he worked for a short period of time with the Inspector General’s Office, GSA, and as vice president at Vance International. He also worked as a part-time starter marshal at Bear Trap Dunes golf course in Ocean View.
Pryor is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anita Patricia (Hiponia) Pryor; four children, Tom Pryor and his wife, Kathy, John Pryor and wife, Robin, Rick Pryor and his wife, Donna, and Michelle Pearre and her spouse, Jody; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Lauren, Joey, Sydney, Hunter, Brady and Luke; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Brooks and Jayden; a sister, Mary Frances MacDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Del. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 35318 Church Road Frankford, Del. Interment will be held privately.
