Delores “Ann” Smith, 74, of Georgetown, Del., formerly of Long Neck, Del., and Lancaster, Pa., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del., on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. She was born in Lancaster on May 15, 1944, daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Bensinger and Mildred (Gregory) Bensinger.
Smith was a homemaker who loved to cook and was a member of the AMVETS Post 22 Ladies Auxiliary in Long Neck.
In addition to her parents, Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith; two children, Ronald Ashby and Gregory Ashby; and a brother, Robert James Bensinger. She is survived by three children, George Ashby of Lebanon, Pa., Patricia Kelley of Myerstown, Pa., and Valarie Plump and her husband, Jonathan, of Ellendale, Del.; four stepchildren, Vickie Underwood and her husband, Bob, of Arizona, Kimberly Hodgson of Arizona, Donna Caldwell of Arizona, and Jay Smith and his wife, Amy, of Pennsylvania; four siblings, Claude Leroy Bensinger, Emma Mary Shultz, Chester David Bensinger and Donald Lee Bensinger; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at the Long Neck chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, Del. Interment will be private.
