The artists of the SouthEastern Delaware Artist Studio Tour (SEDAST) are getting ready for their 24th Annual Tour, in which they will open their studios and give the public the opportunity to talk to them and watch them create their art. The two-day tour will take place this year on Nov. 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The artists will also be selling tickets to the Art in the Hat raffle. Each year, the artists donate a piece of artwork for the raffle, and 100 percent of the proceeds from the raffle help fund local art teacher’s programs for their students. To date, the artists have donated more than $60,000 to the art teachers in the area.
The tour also offers the chance to support the artists and buy local art for holiday gifts.
This year, the tour will give visitors an opportunity to see a glass-blower, a wood-turner, two different styles of handcrafted jewelry, a stained-glass creator, an artist who creates “one of a kind” furniture, an artist who works in clay, a photographer, and seven artists who paint in a variety of mediums, in contemporary, traditional and abstract styles.
The tour, which is self-guided, allows tourgoers the flexibility of visiting as many or as few of the artists’ studios they want to visit.
Brochures, with a map of the tour, are available at the tour’s sponsors; Gallery One, the Ellen Rice Gallery, Good Earth Market and Ocean Vayu Yoga in Ocean View, and Jayne’s Reliables and Dagsboro Days in Dagsboro, as well as many local retailers, or visit www.artstudiotour.com to download the brochure.
