Fred Donald “Don” Olsen, 84, of Millsboro, Del., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, from glioblastoma. He was born in Statesville, N.C., on Aug. 26, 1934, son of the late Fred Combs Olsen and Sadie (Lowtharp) Olsen.
Olsen proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard in Washington, D.C. He began his career in pharmaceutical sales for the Upjohn Co. He retired in 1991 as regional manager of the Kansas City office. After retirement, he had a successful handyman repair business for 10 years. He was also an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, Olsen was preceded in death by two stepchildren, Michael William Albright and Gay Albright Cole. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Ann (Howard) Olsen; a son, Donald L. Olsen and his wife, Jennifer Dohl, of Chicago, Ill.; a grandson, Michael Ulrich and his wife, Shannon, of Senoia, Ga.; great-grandchildren Joshua Ulrich, Chelsea Dolly and Kayden Ulrich; great-great-grandchildren Ava Ulrich, Brayden Zelanko and Brinley Davis; a brother-in-law, Gerald Howard and his wife, Barbara, of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; and an uncle, Charles Duvall, and his wife, Doris, of Millsboro.
