The Town of Bethany Beach will get in the spirit of the holiday season this Saturday, Dec. 1, with its annual Holiday Happenings celebration.
This year, Holiday Happenings combines with the kickoff of Weekend Wonderland.
On Dec. 1, everyone is welcome at Bethany Beach Town Hall, 214 Garfield Parkway, from 1 to 4 p.m. Between 1 and 3 p.m., Santa will be on hand for photos. There will also be face-painting.
Even if the weather outside is frightful, Holiday Happening attendees can bundle up and take a festive ride through town on a horse-drawn wagon, a beach tractor or a trolley. At 5 p.m., all are welcome to gather at the bandstand for the lighting of the Town’s holiday tree, followed by caroling, which will be led this year by The Remnants, the contemporary music group from Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church.
Participants are being encouraged to bring canned goods and/or cold-weather gear (coats, hats, gloves or scarves) to the tree-lighting, and a collection vehicle will be on-site.
For those who are unable to join in the fun in person, the tree-lighting and caroling will be live-streamed on the “west view” beach cam on the Town website, at www.townofbethanybeach.com.
The town trolley will be running to and from locations in Bethany Beach until 6 p.m.
