John Anthony Colpo Sr., 76, of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018. He was born on June 16, 1942, to the late Jesse Colpo and Viola Hassen Colpo, in Williamsport, Pa.
Colpo was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked as a truck driver for General Foods and Rider Logistics. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle and Mary Mother of Peace.
He loved golfing, bowling, animals, Westerns, John Wayne, Dean Martin and the Lewes Beach area. In his earlier years, he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was devoted to his faith, and he never knew a stranger.
In addition to his parents, Colpo was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sheila (Healy) Colpo; a son, Michael Colpo, in 2011; and two brothers, Patrick and Tom Colpo. He is survived by three children, Mary Ellen Hearn and her husband, Bob, of Lewes, Del., John Anthony Colpo Jr. and his wife, Kara, of Lewes, and Patricia Anderson of Georgetown, Del.; three sisters, Mary Ellen Eisenreed of Pittsburg, Pa., Colleen Lampertz and her husband, Rick, of Leesburg, Fla., and Jacinta White and her husband, Cole, of Fripp Island, S.C.; three brothers, Dean Colpo and his wife, Maria, of Clayton, Del., Gregory Colpo and his partner, Frank, of Atlanta, Ga., and Mark Colpo and his wife, Patty, of Chincoteague, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Dr., Lewes, Del., where friends may visit with the family starting at 10:30 a.m. Entombment with military honors will be private, at Henlopen Memorial Park.
