Charles R. Cordrey Sr., 89, passed away in the care of his family, at his daughter’s home in Georgetown, Del., on Dec. 14, 2018. He was born on March 16, 1929, to the late Franklin W. Cordrey and Margaret B. Rogers Cordrey, in Millsboro, Del.
Cordrey worked in agriculture for Townsend’s Farms, retiring after many years in the same job all his life. He married his late beloved wife of 65 years, Frances Annette, and together they raised six children. He was a loving, caring person who worked hard and took care of everybody. He raised rabbit dogs, and loved farming, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Cordrey was also preceded in death by two children, Patricia Ann Cordrey and Barbie Ellen Franklin; a son-in-law, Bill Banks; his sister, Betty Ware; and three brothers, William Cordrey and his wife, Mary, Aubrey Cordrey, and Gerald Cordrey and his wife, Carol. He is survived by four children, Charles R. Cordrey Jr. and his wife, Ellie, of Millsboro, Cheryl Ann Thielemann and her husband, Robert, of Georgetown, Peggy L. Banks of Millsboro, and Deanna F. West of Georgetown; a brother, Donald Cordrey of Florida; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; as well as a large extended family; and many, many friends, including one of his best friends, William “Buster” Andrie Jr.
A graveside service was scheduled for Dec. 20, 2018, at Millsboro Cemetery on State Street in Millsboro, Del., with the Rev. Bob Hudson officiating.
