Thomas W. “Tommy” Dennis, 60, of Georgetown, Del., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at his home. He was born in Milford, Del., on Oct. 8, 1958, son of the late Aubrey Dennis and Carrie (Truitt) Dennis.
Dennis worked at Perdue for almost 35 years before retiring due to his disability in 2015.
He loved watching his great-nephew, Evan Dennis, whom he thought of as a grandson, race go-karts up and down the East Coast. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, William Dennis, in 2014; three sisters, Barbara McBroom in 2005, Donna Rae Parker in 2007, and Charlotte “Teenie” Truitt in 2016; and a nephew, Mike Willey, in 2010. He is survived by two sisters, Sharon Brittingham of Georgetown and Brenda Quillen (and Linda Hudson) of Seaford, Del.; five nephews, Leroy Dennis and his wife, Michelle, of Laurel, Del., Mike Lowe of Gumboro, Del., Horace Willey of Willards, Md., Ricky Willey of Whaleyville, Md., and Mark Wayne Dennis of Parsonsburg, Md.; and four nieces, Becky Davis and her husband, Mike, of Pittsville, Md., Chris Baker and her husband, David, of Whaleyville, Joni Lowe of Delmar, Md., and Angel Truitt and her husband, Jose, of Parsonsburg.
The family said they greatly appreciate the care given by Seasons Hospice, especially from his nurse, Kim, and from Anne Brown.
A funeral service was scheduled for Dec. 20, 2018, at Melson Funeral Services in Frankford, Del. Interment was to follow at the Dennis & Truitt Family Cemetery in Powellville, Md. Condolences may be sent online at www.melsonfuneralservices.com.
