Charles R. “Chuck” Nunan Sr., 90, of Ocean View, Del., formerly of Edgewater, Md., passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at Shipley Manor Nursing Home in Wilmington, Del. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on July 14, 1928.
Nunan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from work as a truck driver for Armour Foods. He was an avid biker and swimmer, and won several medals in the Senior Olympics. He was a member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as chaplain for a number of years; St. Ann Catholic Church, where he served as an usher; and American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro, Del. He and his family enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States.
Nunan is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Genevieve “Jenny” Nunan; four children, Charles R. Nunan Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Landenberg, Pa., Patrick Nunan and his wife, Diana, of Edgewater, Md., Brian Nunan and his wife, Pam, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Denise Nickel and her husband, Christopher, of Crownsville, Md.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial was to be held Jan. 2, 2019, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, Del. Interment with fireman and military honors was to follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del.
