At the annual visit of the district cabinet to the Millsboro Lions Club, Lions District Governor John Burris award King Lion David Mitchell his 35-year Chevron. Mitchell has been president of the club five times and is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
“We joke that he was a Lion before he became a father, since he was only 30 when he joined Lions,” representatives of the local group said.
Burris also inducted two new members into the club that night. Joining the club were Leigh Ann Smith and Catrina Arbeen. Both were sponsored by Melissa Morales and were co-sponsored by Dr. Laurie Conti. All four work for Delaware Eye Clinics in Harbeson.
“Lions’ primary focus is on sight preservation, and all four work in the field of vision. Millsboro was happy to accept applications from three other members that night who will be inducted at the next meeting.
The Millsboro Lions Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be Feb. 12 at 6p.m., at the Ocean Grill restaurant on Long Neck Road. The speaker will be Pat Weaver, speaking about the upcoming Blue Gold Football Game.
