Those looking to something fun and different this Valentine’s Day weekend may want to consider bringing their loved-one to Dickens Parlour Theatre — but be careful, the theater’s management warned, as “Mr. Goodwood has an eye for the ladies!”
Mr. Goodwood is the “102-year-old” sidekick of ventriloquist Ken Huff. Together, they form a comedy duo that will aim to have people laughing all night long.
“Mr. Goodwood credits ‘chasing the ladies, but never catching them!’ for keeping him young and in good physical shape. So, watch your girlfriend or wife, because Mr. Goodwood certainly will make a pass at her. Additionally, he has many thoughts and comments on today’s news and events, McDonald’s and just being old!”
Ken Huff and Mr. Goodwood will open Dickens Parlour Theatre’s 10th season on Friday and Saturday night, Feb. 15 and 16. Shows will begin, as usual, at 7 p.m.
Huff, a retired 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran, and Mr. Goodwood have been performing, flirting and entertaining audiences all over the world for the past 30 years.
After graduating from Martin Van Buren High School in New York City, Huff enlisted in the Air Force and was a contract specialist. While in the Air Force, he and his partner, Mr. Goodwood, traveled all over Europe with the Air Force’s Tops in Blue, an entertaining road-show troupe. He retired from military service in October 1998, as a technical sergeant. After a short time in a government probation and parole job, he decided to perform with Mr. Goodwood fulltime.
Residing in Seaford, Huff performs all over the Delmarva Peninsula. With the recent success of ventriloquists including Terry Frator and Darcy Lynne on “America’s Got Talent,” demand for the act has increased tremendously, they said. The Ken Huff and Mr. Goodwood Comedy Show is considered appropriate for all ages, they noted.
This is their first time performing at Dickens Parlour Theatre in Millville Tickets cost $26 for adults or $18 for children, and can be purchased by phone at (302) 829-1071 or online at www.dptmagic.com.
