Robert Francis ‘Bob’ Graham, 87

Robert Francis “Bob” Graham, 87, of Bethany Beach, Del., formerly of Rockville, Md., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019. He was born in Washington, D.C., son of the late John Thomas Graham and Catherine Marie (Spellman) Graham.

Graham proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955. He graduated from Georgetown University and received his master’s degree from American University. He worked as a contract administrator for the FBI and then transferred to the State Department, retiring in 1995 with a total of 25 years of service to the federal government.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Rosensteel Council 2169, in Silver Spring, Md.; a volunteer and faithful member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bethany Beach; and a former mentor at Frankford (Del.) Elementary School; and also delivered Meals on Wheels.

In addition to his parents, Graham was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Graham. Graham was deeply devoted to his loving wife of 65 years, Hilda Mary (Ring) Graham; a loving father to his eight children, Michael Graham and his wife, Sheila, of Bowie, Md., Susan Morris and her husband, John, of Camp Hill, Pa., Timothy Graham and his wife, Debra, of Mount Airy, Md., Ellen Graham of Baltimore, Md., Robert F. Graham Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Pittsburgh, Pa, Patrick Graham and his wife, Mary K., of Catonsville, Md., Brian Graham and his wife, Molly, of Kensington, Md., and Paul Graham and his wife, Susan, of Columbia, S.C. He is also survived by two sisters, Lois Jones and her husband, Dennis, of Kensington, Md., and Helen Popplewell of Los Angeles, Ca.; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at noon, with visitation hour starting at 11 a.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Del. Interment will be held at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Del.
