The Town of Bethany Beach this week announced the winners in its 2019 photo contest.
“The Town of Bethany Beach would like to acknowledge all of those who submitted photos for its annual calendar contest,” said Julie Malewski, events director for the Town. “The contest garnered entries from 105 amateur and professional photographers, all vying for the grand prize of a 2019 VIP parking pass. The coveted pass is good for free parking at any space within town limits during the summer season. Congratulations to Mike Bahniuk of Derwood, Md., this year’s grand-prize winner.
For the 2019 contest, a total of 548 photo submissions were narrowed down to 86 semi-finalists, 16 of which made it into the calendar, and one will be featured on parking permits.
The photographers receiving a photo credit and a free calendar for their winning entries include: Ellen McLaughlin (Bel Air, Md.), Bill Petros (Washington, D.C.), Alan Wilder (Pikesville, Md.), Jennifer Carter (Bethesda, Md.), Heather Wiles and Mike Hayes (both of Ocean View), George Neece (Macon, N.C.), Chris Flynn (Silver Spring, Md.), Beth Spaulding (Fredon, N.J.), Laura Normoyle (Gaithersburg, Md.), and James B. Hartsig, Julie Pohl, James Farrell and Ann Baker all of Bethany Beach.
The calendar is distributed to an estimated 3,200 households in May and is available for sale in town hall while supplies. All photos will be considered for use on the Town’s website and marketing efforts, which reach an annual audience upwards of 200,000.
