Joseph Robert “Joe” Wright Jr. of Millsboro, Del., passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in the care of his family and VITAS Hospice. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Joseph Robert Wright Sr. and Ruth Cole Wright.
He retired from work at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, where he worked as a planner and estimator. Wright was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of the Nanticoke Indian Association and Indian Mission United Methodist Church in Harbeson, Del. He loved to travel and read, and he was a history buff.
In addition to his parents, Wright was also preceded in death by a brother, John Wright. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Lizzella Lynch Wright of Millsboro; three children, Susan Fawzy of Sicklerville, N.J., Joel Wright of Broad Run, Va., and David Wright of Pine Hill, N.J.; two grandchildren, Amanda Fawzy and Zeke Fawzy; and his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
A viewing and funeral service were to be held Feb. 23, 2019, at Indian Mission U.M. Church, Harbeson, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Nanticoke Indian Association Scholarship Fund; 27073 John J. Williams Hwy.; Millsboro, DE 19966.
