The Medical Staff at Beebe Healthcare created the Nursing Scholar’s program to support the nursing education of eligible candidates in the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare. Among this year’s recipients of the Medical Staff scholarships is Katherine Cessna of Millville, a senior at the school.
“The Medical Staff at Beebe Healthcare recognizes the support of nursing education as a very important component of its mission in the promotion and delivery of healthcare in Sussex County,” Beebe representatives noted, adding that Beebe has a long and proud tradition of excellence in nursing education and remains the only community hospital-based institution a Delaware to continue to fulfill that mission.
The scholarship is considered on a number of criteria, which includes the student’s expressed desire to stay and practice in the community after graduation. The Medical Staff scholarship is presented annually to recognize exceptional clinical performance in nursing.
The two other senior students who are the recipients of the scholarship this year are Renee Adams from Laurel and Kylie Powell from Rehoboth Beach. Each of the recipients plans to seek employment at Beebe Healthcare after graduation, representatives noted.
The Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare is the only hospital-based nursing program in Delaware and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
The diploma in professional nursing is awarded at the completion of the curriculum, qualifying graduates to be eligible for National Council of State Boards of Nursing NCLEX examination, leading to licensure as a registered nurse. Beebe graduates consistently have high NCLEX pass rates. For more information on the School of Nursing, go to www.beebehealthcare.org/school-nursing.
