Edward Thornton “Eddie” Drew, 69, of Bishopville, Md., died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 20, 2019. He was born on Nov. 2, 1949, in Millville, Del., to the late Orlando M. Drew Sr. and Eleanor C. (Thornton) Drew.
Drew received his formal education at William C. Jason Comprehensive High School in Georgetown, Del. He met the love of his life, Gracie Ann Dennis, during his senior year of high school, and on March 25, 1967, the two sealed their love. They would have been married for 52 years this month.
He had a 34-year career with the State of Maryland and Wicomico County Department of Corrections, along with Homeland Security.
Drew was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gracie Ann (Dennis) Drew. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Leonard E. “Lenny” Drew of Bishopville, Md.; a grandson, Michael Drew of Princess Anne, Md.; two great-grandsons, Mahki and Roman Drew of Salisbury, Md.; two sisters, Catherine Walters, and the Rev. C. Claudia Waters and her husband, Morris, all of Clarksville, Del.; two brothers, Dr. Martin Drew and his wife, Sharon, of Smyrna, Del., and James Deloach and his wife, Vanessa, of Millsboro, Del.; an aunt, Loretta Chaudry of Dover, Del.; a mother- and father-in-law, Audrey and Leonard Smith of College Park, Md.; a sister-in-law, Cynthia Drew of Dover; two brothers-in-law, Morrison Dennis and his wife, Beverly, and Monroe Dennis, all of College Park, Md.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service was to be held March 25, 2019, at Union Wesley Church in Clarksville, Del. Burial was to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Berlin, Md. Condolences may be sent online at www.watsonfh.com.
