Easter, spring activities get rolling this weekend

It appears as if the rumors might be true, after all. There will, in fact, be a spring season this year.

Schizophrenic weather aside, there has been a bit of a warming of the air recently, and the spring sports season is now upon us, from the fields at our local schools to Lower Sussex Little League and River Soccer amping up for their respective seasons. And Saturday, in a clear and definitive sign of the spring season, the Lower Sussex Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the little league field from 10 a.m. to noon, kicking off a run of three weeks filled with family activities and Easter-themed celebrations and events.

This egg hunt is sponsored by The River church, Lower Sussex Little League, the Selbyville Public Library, The Odyssey church, Peninsula Community Church and High Tide Church, and takes the place of the former hunt that took place in downtown Selbyville. In addition to the hunt, there will be face-painting, crafts, activities, refreshments and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Participants are advised that photographs and video will be captured during the event, for promotional purposes.

Our “shoulder seasons” of spring and fall have become highlights for both the second-homeowners who are looking for more excuses to come down to the beach and the year-round families looking to shake off the cobwebs of winter and get back out doing fun things.

Easter is where it seemingly always starts in the spring, and this weekend is the “kick-off.” Get out and have some fun.
