Janie E. “Peggy” McCartney, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, surrounded by her grandchildren, Sonny Martin, Kelly Martin-Rosa and Allison Dobyski. She was born on Dec. 9, 1922, in Lebanon, Tenn. Although she was named Janie, she was always known as Peggy.
McCartney and her husband, Andy, were married in Lebanon in 1942. They spent their first few years of married life in Lebanon and Nashville. In 1954, they moved to Winter Park, Fla., where she worked as a supervisor in the EKG department at the Orlando Regional Medical Center for 30 years. In 1992, they moved back to Lebanon, where they lived for the next 15 years, before moving to Ocean View, Del., to be near their children and grandchildren. They truly had a wonderful life.
McCartney was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Andy, in 2016. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Lofton of Delray Beach, Fla., and Mary Ellen Martin and her husband, Chuck, of Ocean View; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
