Jayne F. Sewell, 79, of Lewes, Del., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2019, with her loving family by her side. She was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Wilmington, Del., to the late Dr. Albert F. Parker and Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Parker.
Affectionately known as “Mommom Beach,” Sewell was a kind and generous person whose devotion to her family was endless. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, card games, bird-watching, all things related to Christmas and trips to Dover Downs. She and her husband, Charlie, were also involved with the annual Toys for Tots drive and activities at the Elks Lodge in Lewes. She was a dedicated employee for 38 years of RediCall Communications, where she continued to work until her illness.
In addition to her parents, Sewell was preceded in death by her stepmother, Jean Parker; a brother, Robert Parker; and a beloved grandson, Matthew Jenkins. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles Sewell Sr.; her children, Cynthia Jenkins and her husband, Ward, Charles Sewell Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Deborah Donohue, Mark and his wife, Nenita, Kimberly Hottes and her husband, Richard, and Amy Weldin and her husband, Art; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Jill Parker and Janet Parker; her brother, Jeffrey Parker and his wife, Katie; and a sister-in-law, Rosie Parker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., with visitation starting at 10 a.m., on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Long Neck chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, Del. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Lewes, Del.
