Thomas John Walker Jr., 65

Thomas John Walker Jr., 65, of Frankford, Del., formerly of Newark, Del., passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the Delaware Hospice Center. He was born in Camden, N.J., on Jan. 16, 1954, son of the late Thomas J. Walker Sr. and Rose Theresa (Kane) Walker.

Walker made his career as a CDL truck driver, making numerous long and short hauls, including driving horses cross-country. After many years, he retired from work as a truck driver for Mountaire Farms. In his spare time, Walker loved fishing, crabbing, camping and hunting, and he was an avid sports player in his younger years. He was also a skilled carpenter, always extending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Walker is survived by his wife, Tammy Walker, of Frankford; two daughters, Marie Hastings and her husband, Mark, of Salisbury, Md., and Kandi Lecates and her husband, Scott, of Stockton, Md.; four siblings, Rose Walker (and Russ Mullen) of Ocean View, Del., Rene Bentley and husband, Keith, of Elverson, Pa., John Walker and his wife, Paula, of New Castle, Del., and Ricky Green and his wife, Darlene, of Middletown, Del.; two granddaughters, Serenity Hastings of Salisbury and Mylan Lecates of Stockton, Md.; four nieces, Sherri Clark and her husband, Paul, of Fairfax Station, Va., Jenn Frank of Wellington, Fla., Sarah Allem and her spouse, Jesse, of Honey Brook, Pa., and Kellie Walker (and Mike McCracken) of New Castle, Del.; four nephews, Bobby Gilchrist and his spouse, Kelly, of New Orleans, La., Will Bentley and his wife, Hannah, of Philadelphia, Pa., Dave Bentley of Philadelphia and Tommy Walker of New Castle; and five great-nieces, Julia Clark of New York, N.Y., Megan, Maddie and Lily Clark, all of Fairfax Station, Va., and Fallon Gilchrist of New Orleans, La.

A celebration of Walker’s life will be held on May 18, 2019, in the Newark, Del., area. The location will be announced at another time. Arrangements were being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, Ocean View, Del.
