Catherine Bernice “Kitty” (Taylor) Hall, 66, of Millsboro, Del., passed away peacefully in her sleep at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., on Thursday, May 2, 2019. She was born at home in Millsboro on April 14, 1953, to the late David Lynwood and Sarah Elizabeth Taylor.
Hall graduated from Sussex Central High School and earned an associate degree in business administration from Delaware Technical Community College. She furthered her education at Wilmington University, earning her bachelor’s degree in human-resource management and her master’s degree in public administration.
She started her career at the Laurel School District and, after several years, became a probation officer in Probation & Parole in Dover. Later she transferred to the Georgetown office as a supervisor. Hall worked as a State of Delaware employee for more than 35 years before retiring to take care of her husband.
Hall married the love of her life, the late Aldon D. Hall, on Jan. 1, 2008, at Union Wesley United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Del. She went all out for her wedding, including renting a stretch limousine for the couple. (Her nieces and nephews commandeered the driver and vehicle, went joy-riding and did not return until she called the driver and told him to come pick the couple up. They were a little late starting their honeymoon.)
Hall loved her family, gardening, shopping and decorating. She would spend countless hours in the yard or re-doing the house. When one of her nieces or nephews moved, she would take them shopping in her numerous storage sheds. They could pick up items to start up their home.
Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Aldon D. Hall; her siblings, Sylvia “Jennie” Santiago, Priscilla Taylor-Snell, Dwight E. Taylor and Wanda A. Taylor; and her great-niece (“granddaughter”) Aliyah Christine Simms.
She leaves to cherish her memories eight siblings, Shirley Conaway of Harrington Del., Linda Perry and her husband, Lawrence, of Chesapeake, Va., Bruce Taylor and his wife, Heidi, of Georgetown, Del., and Pamela Taylor, Bertha Taylor, Robert Taylor and his wife, Anna, Sebrena Taylor, and Gail Reid and her husband, Linwood, all of Millsboro; two of her nieces, whom she helped raise, LaRicka Taylor of Millsboro and Jessica Taylor of Baltimore, Md.; her godchildren, Telisa Snell of Cleveland, Ohio, and Gregory Taylor Jr. of Millsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews who called themselves her grandchildren.
A funeral service and celebration of Hall’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., with visitation at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Del. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. Condolences may be sent online at via www.watsonfh.com.
